Așa cum era de așteptat, „The Artist” a luat premiul Oscar pentru cel mai bun film, în timp de Jean Dujardin și Meryl Streep au fost considerați cei mai buni actori.
„Hugo”, filmul 3D al lui Martin Scorsese şi filmul mut „The Artist” au fost liderii incontestabili ai serii, câştigând fiecare câte 5 premii. „The Artist” a luat premiul pentru cel mai bun film, cea mai bună regie (Michel Hazanivicius) şi cel mai bun actor (Jean Dujardin). „The Iron Lady” a reusit să-i aducă lui Meryl Streep cel de-al treilea premiu Oscar.
